Off Grid

Soltari off-grid systems offer true energy independence through fully integrated solar and battery solutions that operate without utility connection. Designed for reliability and long-term performance, they deliver dependable power where freedom and self-reliance matter most.

Living and working off-grid with solar

If you’re looking to power a home or cabin in a remote location — or achieve complete energy independence — an off-grid solar system may be the perfect solution. With a battery-based off-grid system, your solar array becomes your primary power source, generating and storing electricity to supply reliable energy around the clock.

Soltari designs custom off-grid solar and battery systems that deliver dependable performance, long-term reliability, and true freedom from the utility grid.

How off-grid solar works

Off-grid solar systems are designed to collect, store, and deliver electricity without any connection to the utility grid. The solar array charges the battery and provides electricity to your loads while the sun is shining. During periods of high demand, low light, or darkness, your battery provides electricity. Depending on your electrical power needs, a generator may be added to your system to charge your batteries during short winter days or cloudy weather when less sunlight is available.

Off-grid systems: Large or small

Whether you have a weekend camp with modest electricity needs or a year-round full-time off-grid home, our design specialist can engineer a system to meet your needs.

Living with an off-grid solar system

The average grid-tied residential home in the US uses 30 kWh per day, which is typically not practical for an off-grid system. To successfully live off-grid, we recommend adjusting your lifestyle to use significantly less electricity. Most customers choose propane (and sometimes wood) to heat the home and water. Electrical loads on receptacles, well pumps, lighting, and refrigeration can be handled by the off-grid system.
