Which EV Chargers Are Available for Homes?
- Level 1: Level 1 charging cords are standard equipment for an electric vehicle. Level 1 charging only requires a standard three-prong 120-volt outlet. An EV owner can expect 40 miles of range in an eight-hour overnight charge.
- Level 2: Level 2 charging requires a dedicated 240-volt circuit, similar to a circuit used to power an electric hot water heater Level 2 chargers range in power between 20 and 80 amps. We typically recommend 40 or 60 amp chargers
Can I charge my EV with solar?
An electric vehicle charger is simply another electrical load on your home’s electrical system. A properly designed solar array can offset your total household electricity use — including the power needed to charge your EV.
By pairing an EV purchase with a Soltari solar system, you can eliminate fuel costs and offset your charging electricity with clean, fixed-cost solar energy, giving you long-term savings and true energy independence.
